I should emphasise that fighting is not all about a physical fight. I was not suspecting that I could see you as a... soldier.

[She can't. Susato is too demure? Too delicate for such a thing. At least, so she would seem to be. And she suspects that not all parents want to see their children get into such a pastime. She can't help wondering what kind of man Yujin is when he's not focused on politicking.]

You seem to have picked up on that, however. It is important that we all strive for better things. Better days. For all of us, not necessarily individuals. I believe we have many people here capable of beginning to pave that road if they are only given a chance.

[She doesn't mean herself by that.]

If I may, Lady Susato, what kinds of things would you like to see here? What sorts of changes? What things made available? What would provide you with a more comfortable and pragmatic style of living?

. . . [ Spoken like a politician, even if she doesn't consider herself one. A couple different things stand out to Susato here, the first of which is being called a lady. To command such respect from someone, an adult like Beatrix in a higher position... She holds that feeling close.

The questions themselves are also... surprising. Maybe she's not used to people caring about what she thinks, either. After a moment, she shrugs, realizing her answer might not be a good one, or even one Beatrix can do anything about. ]

That is a heavy topic... but if you'd like to know what came to my mind just now, I have to say that I... I miss having a library. [ ......Yep. ] The bookstore is wonderful, of course, but I suppose I'd just like to be able to look things up again, when I don't understand them.

Seeing the giant books on the Tree of Memories... it reminded me.

[Susato's input is... admirable. The pursuit of knowledge is a noble one. Knowledge and information are oft, in fact, sharper tools than any blade. Truthfully, if one can find a way to end conflict without the use of weapons, that's a more desirable course of action than force. Perhaps it puts someone like Beatrix out of work, but at some point, there's always a need for soldiers. It's not all about conquest. It's about defence. She would rather defend than invade.

After a moment's consideration, Beatrix nods. Lifting a hand, she draws touch along the length of her jaw.]

I think that many would benefit from this. I too, would find favour with a library for many of the same reasons. [Another breath and she feels her resolve strengthened, if such a thing possible for a woman who already has such an adamant one.] I will bring this to the attention of those interested in the council and we will see what we can do to make this a reality. If you have other ideas, be sure to share them. I may not be able to directly incorporate them, but you have a voice and it is important that you use it.

[ Susato's hopes may have gone up! Not that she has any reason to think a library will just grow overnight (ha), but just the promise that Beatrix will bring it up with others seems to make Susato feel better. After all, they are hardly the only ones who want a library.

[ Well, she's come a long way from someone who didn't really think her voice mattered in the long run, despite everything. ]

[Both reaching out to Beatrix and feeling that she can speak up about what she might find beneficial. After a moment's more assessment, Alexandria's general realises she sees a touch of Garnet in Susato. Not fully. Not completely. Just enough that there are some remote similarities.

Tilting her head with some consideration, she continues.]

Thank you for your assistance with the flower crowns. And the cookies. I suspect who I mean to give them to will enjoy them. I will be sure to let them know where I obtained them from.
